It is great that you choose yoga as a part of your life and continually practice it. It will definitely give you a lot of benefits and you won’t wait a lot to see the positive impact that yoga will have. If you think you are now a professional yogi and have gone through the most of the poses and are now practicing the most difficult ones, we are really happy for you. Congratulations. You may think: what is next step? How else can I become a better yogi, to be totally involved into it?

And, the next step for this comes eating and the habits of eating that you have. If you are planning to have a special yogi diet, then here are some of the useful tips and advice that you should know for that.

Start with knowing when and what to eat

Knowing what to eat and when is essential for every yogi. So, if you are going to practice yoga on the morning, make sure you are waking up at least half an hour before the actual beginning of the practice (though, one hour is a better option) and have something light. It’s important to keep the 30 minutes to 1hour break between eating and the practice.

Try to eat something light, for example fruits or nuts, you can also try having oatmeal. These all will work really well. Try to escape eating anything fried, some boiled eggs or smoothies.

There is nothing to be said about the eating after yoga. So enjoy it.

What to include into your yogi diet in general?

If besides knowing what and when to eat before yoga session you still want to go on with a yogi diet, here is what you should add into your list and take as a priority.

Breakfast is essential – If you are sometimes missing and escaping your breakfast, then it’s time for you to start having it. This is the time when your body gets nutrition for the whole day and that is why breakfast should be included into your yogi diet. Try to have it as healthy as possible.

Homemade food is great – We know that you are busy and working and studying and a lot more. However, eating homemade food will highly impact on you (positively, of course). Try to have a veggie salad instead of ordering junk food.

Food eating rules – From your childhood you may remember how everyone would say that you should chew your food more then you are used to. It is said that in order to digest the food better you should chew it from 30 to 60 times.

Proteins- Proteins are always important. So try to include foods which are full of protein into your diet as much as possible. Foods like broccoli spinach and others which include proteins, will be a great plus for your diet and should become irreplaceable part of it.

Choose healthy food –  And finally for your yogi diet you should always choose the healthy options. Always have fruits and vegetables instead of fast food. Choose water instead of soft drinks. This will help you digest your food easier, keep the healthy lifestyle and you will definitely feel yourself better with the healthy food.

Those are pretty much the most important things you should know about the yogi diet before starting it. Make sure you are combining everything mentioned good with your yoga sessions and nothing disturbs you to follow the healthy schedule you have created for you. Try to follow these healthy tips all day for dome of a period. At first it will be difficult for you to refuse eating fast food etc., however yoga is always there to help you. Yoga is a great way helping out from every situation, from bad habits. So, this won’t be any difficult for yoga as well.
