As you have decided to start your yoga practices, first thing you may ask yourself is: where you are going to take your yoga sessions. First thing you can do is finding a yoga studio, where professional yogis will teach you where to start and with which poses to continue your yoga practice. This will be a good decision if you are ready to give some more time and money to that. However, if you are not, there is still the second option: practicing yoga at home.
For this, you should know more and make research on different yoga poses to start with the right ones and get the necessary result. However, besides the exact poses there are several other things you should know as well.
Let us start this list with:
- The place of yoga – Yes, you already know that you are going to have your yoga practice at home, however to start it you need to be more certain with the exact place. Try to choose the room of your home which is more or less more empty then the other ones. If you are going to make different yoga poses such as: downward yoga pose or some special poses for depression, insomnia or digestion, all of these poses would require some space. Make sure there are no sharp things around you, so that you won’t hurt yourself during doing some special poses. Take the tables or other subjects as far as you can, to escape the possible damage.
- Turn off the devices – Deciding to practice yoga at home is a great decision, however you should know that the noise at home will be more, then it could be at a yoga studio. To escape the possible disturbing factors, first of all turn off your phone, TV, internet, so that you will be able to totally be involved in your practice and not be disturbed by any of these means.
- Make sure your family knows that you are practicing – If your family members are at home when your are practicing, make sure they know when you start, not to enter the room where you are. This will help you get considered easily and go throught he whole process of yoga without any disturbings.
- Foods is close – When choosing the yoga studio as an option, people are usualy having time betweeen eating and going to the studio. Usually that time is enough for the food to be digested and it’s the exact time for the practice to be started. However, if you are starting your practice at home, that means that you can feel like eating something and then right after that starting the practice. This means, consider eating something at least 30 minutes before the actual yoga practice starts, so that not to have it with a full stomach. Consider having a yogurt or a fruit before 30 minutes of the yoga session, those can be a great beginning of the day. There are no special rules about the eating after yoga, so just enjoy it.
- Music or not? – The minus of yoga studios is that there are many people, each liking or disliking a special kind of music, some people would prefer to have yoga in silence, some would not. When you are alone at home, it Is up to you to decide whether you want to practice under some kind of music or not? You choose the music and it’s up to you to choose the silence as well.
- Clothes and mat – If you are not going to a studio, that doesn’t mean you can have a practice on everything which is on you right at that moment. Yoga clothes and a good mat are still important for an effective yoga session.
Those are pretty much the most important things you should know about yoga if you are deciding to have it at home. Hope you will enjoy it. Namaste!
