Summer is one of the best seasons we have. Doesn’t matter whether you are a hot weather lover or not, if you are working, you are waiting for it to have a vacation. Well, but before going to your vacation, you will need to work (in case you don’t have a vacation for 3 months). And, in case you arranged your vacation on August, for example, oh, Jesus, you have so much struggles to go through. When the whole world seems to be having a rest, adding cool images in Instagram and Facebook, you are sitting in front of our desk and crying. Well, but let’s say, if you are an employee, this article is not that much for you, but for your HR manager.

If you are an HR manager, you probably know the situation that we have just described to you. It may sometimes be too awkward, when everyone needs a rest, but come to work – you feel yourself to be the devil of that fairy tale. But, in case you want your employees to feel a little bit better and continue working as if it is not summer, here are some tricks to apply for it:

Do not put sudden deadlines

Be kind, do not put sudden deadlines, telling that they have to work extra hours for completing them. Even if you do not force them to work extra hours, if you are putting a deadline all of a sudden, your employees will have to work more for getting it done. Well, let’s be honest, no one likes sudden deadlines, but when they are in summer – this becomes a hell. Imagine, your employees have planned to have a party at least after job (as they can’t go somewhere out of the city), but, wait – “you have got a surprise, you won’t go to that party as well. You need to work!” This will really make it the worst summer ever.

 

Bring some “summer” food

Make some 1-hour summer parties with the summer food you can organize to be brought beforehand. Take with you some eye-screams, watermelon and melon, cold drinks (juices of course), other fruits and just enjoy them. It will be great enough to know that you are not missing the summer totally, you are becoming the part of it. Your employees will totally like it, will get energized and will continue working more effectively.

Summer songs can be good idea

If the job that your employees are doing, doesn’t require too much of an attention, you can turn on some summer songs, which will definitely boost their mood and bring more motivation. In case they do need their total attention and can’t work when the music is turned on, you can always have that 5 minutes for song. Take the first minute of the morning to start with the summer song and then 5 minutes of the lunch time, if you wish to. This will bring a good energy and mood to the employees. Who knows, maybe they won’t hate the job they are doing as much as they would before?

Organize small playing hours

Suggest a game and start playing it. If your employees would agree to this, you can use the lunch time. Eat and play together. This will let them think less about the work and get rid of the stress they may have had. At the same time, they will come back to the work easily and will continue the work with a great mood.

 

Give some rewards

Summer Is a season for travelling, partying, hiking, reading and eating and drinking – in other words, summer is less for working, more for doing what you want. That is why giving a little bit of flexibility as a reward would be a great surprise for your employees. Let’s say your employees want to go to a hiking and camping, but have no day other than Saturday and Sunday. Reward them with a Friday day off. What you will get? Employees who are very satisfied with their trip, content with the reward that you gave, and are feeling more responsible to finish up their jobs in time and meet the deadlines. What you will get? Employees who love you and are thankful, plus the job is done and no damage to the company. Isn’t this great?

 

Keep it all simple

Try to avoid all of the difficult and complicated conversations, delay the complaints and critique and keep it all simple. Because summer likes simplicity. Well, we don’t tell you to delay everything, and if someone does something wrong, you probably won’t wait for 3 months. However, you will still be able to discuss everything without any anger and screaming (if you were used to do like that before, though we wouldn’t suggest that as well). In other words, let the employees work without any stress and give the opportunity to enjoy the summer and the work. Let them be stress less and combine the summer with the work.
