Astrology: What is it?

The planets and stars have always triggered wonder and excitement. In many cultures, it is normal to look to the skies in search of the divine.

Astrology has to do with the relationships and patterns of moving planets, birth charts, elements, and utilization of all the tools to get meaning. It is the study of how the planets and stars affect every individual.

This is because it is believed to play a significant role in molding the future and personality of these individuals. Astrology helps in finding the natural power to develop your destiny by mixing practical living with ancient knowledge.

However, the history of astrology consists of a broad range of cultures and human history. And to really understand astrology, it is important to understand the history too. Let us look at this below.

Brief History of Astrology

Many decades ago, people who looked at the skies were amazed by how mysterious the stars and planets were. The way they moved may have seemed magical to them. And similar to everything strange and exciting we experience, these individuals started to observe and record these movements.

According to the Greek historian Solon, people had started to record information involving astrology no less than nine thousand years before his birth. If this is true, it would mean that people have had an interest in astrology for more than ten thousand years. This would mean that astrology is the most ancient form of divination in the globe.

Astrology was believed to have originated during the period of the ancient Babylonians. This was in the 2nd Millennium BC. However, almost every old civilization studied Astrology, including Egypt, Greece, and China. Because there were already various concepts of astrology in existence, it laid the foundation for the origins of astrology.

Early Astrologers found out that groups of stars moved in the sky together. They were referred to as constellations. However, there were five stars that moved by themselves. These stars were brighter and bigger than the rest, and they referred to them as wanderers. Now, many of us know these stars as planets.

Astrologers believed these independent stars were gods and named them Venus, Mercury, Jupiter, Mars, and Saturn. The other planets were found later. For instance, in 1781, Uranus was discovered, while in 1846, Neptune came next, before Pluto was finally discovered in 1930. The early astrologers also observed the way the movement of both the Moon and Sun, which are very crucial in understanding astrology.

With time, Astrologers started to observe that individuals born at specific periods of the year when the Moon, Sun, and Planets were in the same area of the sky had many similarities. Even though every human is different, these individuals had numerous similar feelings and interests.

These new findings led astrologers to create horoscope charts for different individuals. A horoscope is an image of the heavens at the time, date, and location where an individual was born. If it were possible to stare at the sky the day you were born, you would realize that all the planets are in the same location as your birth chart.

Getting birth charts used to be a tricky and long process. However, now you can do it in less than a minute. There are many websites that will prepare a free horoscope chat for you today. However, reading and understanding the information on the chart is not as easy and will require a long time to really master.

The Celestial Clock: What Does it Mean?

The concept of astrology is built around the fact that the way planets move affects the periods in time. Because we are a part of the Universe, the day we are born, which is recorded on the celestial clock, is of utmost importance.

The planets keep on moving and interacting with the energies that our birth charts leave in time. Today, everyone can tap from the knowledge of ancient astrologers to create their own language. One of the most common ones is the study of the Sun’s yearly journey via the Zodiac.

The Four Elements

There are twelve Zodiac signs, which are categorized into four groups. All consist of three of the signs. The four groups get their names from the four elements provided by Empedecoles, an ancient Greek Philosopher. This was hundreds of years ago.

These elements were believed to be the foundation of the universe, which include Fire, Air, Earth, and Water.

  • Fire: This consists of zodiac signs like Sagittarius, Leo, and Aries. Fire is powerful, brave, inspirational, impulsive, passionate, and energetic.
  • Air: This includes Libra, Gemini, and Aquarius. Air is independent, entertaining, restless, curious, joyful, and lighthearted.
  • Earth: Virgo, Taurus, and Capricorn belong to the earth. Earth is practical, responsible, solid, cautious, disciplined, and dependable.
  • Water: Here, you can find Pisces, Scorpio, and Cancer. Water is emotional, creative, forgiving, and compassionate.

Astrology Sun Signs: Understanding the Basics

The sun is the force and energy that pushes the solar system. If it is absent, life will be inexistent. The sun signifies energy, willpower, motivation, strength, leadership, and creativity in your horoscope. It also signifies who you are on the inside.

Sun signs are extremely popular, which is why people who know nothing about the basics of astrology know their sin sign. They usually know some of the character traits that come with it, which is great because it is a great place to begin understanding astrology.

In astrology, the sky has twelve sections, each signifying a zodiac sign. The sun is usually in one of these sections during your birth, and this is what determines your zodiac sign. The sun stays in each section for 30 days, and this implies it requires a year to go to every section and go around the Zodiac.

There is a slight change in dates by a day or two each year it visits. This means if you were born at the end or start of a sign, you need to determine the year you were born first. Doing this will help you determine your sign.

Every section offers its specific energy to those born in it. Decades ago, astrologers used the names of people, animals, and objects to describe specific energies. For instance:

  • Taurus the Bull
  • Leo the Lion,
  • Capricorn the Goat
  • Cancer the Crab
  • Pisces, the Fish
  • Gemini the Twins
  • Libra the Scales etc.
