Now that all the hype behind the much awaited IOS 8 has died down, news of a number of problems associated with the upgrade are slowly coming out. Apple forums are flooded with a variety of issues that have cropped up since users decided to upgrade their IOS7 to IOS  8 on their older devices.

Here is a list of some of the most common problems people are experiencing –

  • Problems with Wi-Fi

Many iPad owners including those with newer models are finding the Wi-Fi seeds to be slower after the upgrade. The Air, Mini with Retina Display and the iPhone 5S are the ones that are experiencing this the most. Users also added that resetting the network settings or the router band did not improve matters. It seems that the Wi-Fi works well for a few minutes and then the little wheel just continues to sit there and spin.

  • Issues with Sound

This is another issue that seems to have become a trend only on iPads. While one can hear music and sounds on YouTube Videos, audio from games and other applications seem to have completely disappeared. Some point out that their iPads have no sound at all.

  • Overall Performance Issues

A number of older devices are much slower than they were after the iOS 8 upgrade. This includes the iPad Air and the iPhone 5S. These devices come with a 64-bit A7 Chipset. For users of the iPhone 4S, opting for this upgrade has proved to especially unsatisfying with regards to performance. Many people point out that the animations on the Apple A5 SoC have become distinctively choppy and inconsistent in the new operating system. Many users believe that the upgrade has also affected the performance of Safari. The pages are now loading slower and slower as time passes. Sometimes the browser refuses to load any pages entirely. Many iPhone 5s users said that the device has been heating up extremely fast and the apps have begun to crash with no reason at all.

  • Reduced Battery Life

Hundreds of users on Twitter and other Apple forums are complaining about the battery drainage right after the upgrade. While it is possible to go to your settings and click on usage to identify applications that drain your battery the most, there is no denying that the upgrade forces users to re-evaluate how they use their phones considering the life is gone down by hours overall. Users are forced to disable location services to save battery.

In addition to this, some users are also facing problems with iMessages. Users are complaining that messages are only going out as texts which are chargeable unlike iMessages that is free. That said, most users are now vary of upgrading their phones and are waiting for further announcements with regards to these bug fixes.
