You all probably have heard about borsch, because it is a very famous and popular soup, especially in Post-Soviet area. Did you know it is of Ukrainian origin? Borsch is often regarded as something pure Russian, but in reality is a super tasty and healthy soup of Ukrainian origin. The soup was very popular in Soviet Union era, and was the separate part of Soviet culture. Nowadays the soup borsch continues to remain the heritage of Soviet culture and is widely prepared in Post-Soviet countries.

Borsch is rich in vegetables and also has meat in it. Due to that the taste is really rich and the ingredients are large in number.

Here is the list.

Pork meat

1 onion, beforehand sliced

2 carrots

2 beet, beforehand peeled and cut

3 potatoes

½ cabbage, beforehand sliced very thinly

2 tomatoes, beforehand peeled 

Water

Salt of 1 teaspoon

Pepper of 1 teaspoon

1 cup of sour cream

You have to boil the water and boil the meat in it, so much until it is cooked properly and the meat is not row.

Meanwhile you have to slice all the vegetables you need to slice, and then peel the ones you have to peel and all the vegetables in turn.

Then you have to take another big bowl, add some water in it, put it on fire and add all the except tomatoes vegetables in it in order to make them boil. Check permanently whether all the vegetables are cooked or not. Beet are being cooked later than others, you can first throw beet in the water and only after some time add the carrots and other vegetables.  After making sure that all the vegetables are cooked properly it is the right time to add the tomatoes and add the cooked meat. Let all the ingredients get boiled together for a few minutes and come together and mix all the flavors and tastes and then turn the fire off.

Usually the borsch is served with sour cream. It is super tasty and the taste is really rich with sour cream. People eat it with sour cream and bread. As you can understand the borsch is a very delicious and rich soup, which will provide tons of energy. 

It is just the best choice for you in autumn and spring time.
Borsch can also be made without meat. If you are vegetarian you can make it as well, and still it will taste amazing. 

The cooking time is between 1-2 hours as there are lots of ingredients and they all require some work and time, but the cooking level is not so difficult, it is of middle difficulty. The nutrition is really high due to the present of meat and of many vegetables. 

The soup looks really red. The reason is for that is the presence of beet in it, which gives a nice red color to the soup.
