THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF TEENAGE FATHERS

THE It is not a secret how difficult it is to deal with becoming a teenage parent. However, most often it is the teenagers to blame and no one else. When teenagers do not think about their safety and about being protected while having affairs, teenage parenting is what they may have to face. In fact it is not something that teenagers like to face. Of course it is quite natural and understandable. Parenting is quite difficult even for adults let alone the teenagers. Teenage years are actually quite difficult ones for any person, and when parenting is something a teenager comes up with, then things go really hard for him or her. Most of the time, when we think about teenage parenting we think about the teenage girl who will become mom and will be under a huge responsibility. However, teenage parenting is not just about the mom but also about the dad. We usually think that teenage motherhood is a very hard experience. In fact, it is. However, teenage fatherhood is also not an easy one. Actually the teenage pregnancy happens because of the mistake of both parents and they both should be responsible for the consequences. So now let’s see what kind of responsibilities the teenage father will have to face.

First of all before coming to responsibilities we would like to say that it requires much courage to continue with the mother and not to leave her. You should realize that the baby is your baby and you are the one who made the baby as well as the mother. If you are a real man then you have to support and share the responsibilities with the teenage mom, instead of leaving her alone and letting her become a single teenage mom.

• Thus, when it comes to the responsibilities of teenage father, we would say that the very first one is supporting the teenage mom by all means. Actually you should not leave her. If the baby is a result of one fun night, and if there is no wish to build a family with the mom of the baby, then you at least should support and show that you will share the care of the baby.
• The second responsibility is connected to finances. The baby and parenting is connected to finances a lot. The pregnant teenage girl cannot work for sure. She will feel awful both psychologically and physically. So one thing you have to do is not to let her be worried about the finances. You may find a job and work in order to help the mom.
• After the birth of the child you should share the baby care with the mom. The teenage mother still wants to have fun and she has the right to let her be free sometimes. The fathers should share the daily responsibilities and help a lot with the baby care. If you will make a family, then this will be easier to do. However, if you live separately then just you have to arrange and manage somehow with the mom. If you are supporting really well with the finances, then you can work and leave the baby care on mom.
• You should watch out how the baby is getting older. You should love him or her, be there always when there is something important and always support the mom as well. It is not important whether there is love or not, at least you should respect the mother as the mother of your baby.
• You should make the baby feel that you are the father by all means. Just give love, be attentive, watch out, keep in touch with the mom and take care of the baby.

These are the main responsibilities of the teenage father. Actually if you go into details you will find more and more of them. However, there is one thing to remember for sure. The baby is both the father’s and mother’s. The teenage father is no better to be free of any responsibility. So at least the finances should be on his shoulder, just because the teenage mother already takes too much responsibility over her shoulders, which is very hard to do.
