Danish cuisine is kind of new to us. However it is a typical Scandinavian cuisine full of meat, potatoes and other vegetables. You can find lots of cheese and oats here as well. The desserts are also large in number when it comes to Danish cuisine. The Danish cuisine may look a little bit reserved and strict. It lacks the weirdness and diversity that Colombian or Spanish cuisines have, but on the other hand, they it is just simple and tasty, which makes you feel as if you are in countryside, enjoying the picturesque scenes and eating home-made quality food. 

That’s the reason why we are introducing you a classic Danish Meat pie. The dish is perfect for the occasions when you are out with a family, to have rest and to enjoy your time in breathtaking beautiful nature. 

So what do we need to make this classic meat pie.

The ingredients:

2 pounds of steak

1 pound of ham

20 mushrooms

2 tablespoon of flour

2 tablespoon of butter

Salt

White pepper

½ cup sherry

½ cup of beef stock

1 and ½ cups of flour

½ cups of cognac

½ teaspoon of salt

7 tablespoons of shortening

4 tablespoon of cold water

The making

For the dough you need to sift the flour and salt together, add the shortening. Gradually add water in the mixture, make a firm ball until it no longer sticks to your fingers. Add some flour on board and roll the dough on it.

Then for the filling we need to cook the meat and then cut the beef and ham in small pieces. Then wash mushrooms. Then place the ham in pan and fry them a little bit with butter. After add the beef in the pan also and fry all together, then place them on casserole. Sprinkle the mushrooms with flour and add salt and pepper. Then add the meat stock and simmer for a few minutes, then add the sherry and cognac. Add this to the mass in casserole. 

Take a baking round sheet, cover it with the dough but left some part on side. Then add the filling and cover it with the other share of dough. Preheat the oven under 450 degrees and put it there to bake for 25 minutes. Make sure it is cooked. 

You can serve it with sour cream and in hot state. 

As you can see the dish is perfect for family meetings, it is a good food and just makes you feel very comfortable. The dish is high in nutrition level. The cooking process however is not so easy, but rather complicated and when it comes to timing, then you need good 3 hours to make this tasty and classic pie in Danish style. However, the result you will have is so amazing and delicious. 

The pie will give you lots of energy for the whole day, and the you will be able to hike to ski, and do other sort of activities.
