Russian cuisine is another fabulous one. It is made up of Russian blini or crepes, the favorite pizza like chebureki and of various dumplings called vareni, including the dumpling pelmeni, which we are going to introduce in this article.
Russian pelmeni, is a dumpling, which almost looks like Georgian khinkali but in smaller size and it is super tasty and delicious. The dish is very nutritious and after eating some of them you feel very full. However, it is not so quick to make them. It takes almost 2 hours and it is not so easy also.
We need to have ingredients for dough and for filling separately.
For the dough we must have.
3 cups of butter and milk mixed together
1 teaspoon sour cream
2 big eggs
2-3 cups of warm water
1 tablespoon salt
7 cups of flour
For the filling we need the following.
Turkey or pork meet ( as you like)
1 large onion, already chopped
Olive oil
3 garlics
Ground pepper
Salt
Hot sauce (not a must)
Thus the first thing we have to do is to make the dough. For the dough break the eggs, add the buttermilk, sour cream, water and salt and blend them all together very well.
Then slowly we add the flour but in a way that we have no dots in the flour and by making sure that the dough is smooth. You add the flour so much until you see that it is quite firm.
For the filling we take a pen, add oil and add the chopped onion until it gets the nice red color. Then we mix together the pork, turkey and garlic, add salt, ground pepper and hot sauce, if you like the latter. The filling is ready.
Next we take the dough, knead it and make a thin list of it. Take a middle size cup and build round shapes with them. The n we take one round and add one teaspoon of the filling in the middle of the round dough and by the help of finger close them, so that it becomes a dumpling. Then we repeat the same process for the rest of the dough and filling.
After you have done all these things, it is the time to cook them. You take a big jar, and add water in it. Bring the water to the boil and add all the pelmenis there. In the middle of the cooking process you add salt in the water. Until pelmenis are boiled you can try one. If the meat is ready then pelmeni is also ready.
You take out pelmenis, add the water juice in a deep plate, take some plemenis and put them into there, add butter, black pepper and sour cream. This is how Russians eat pelmeni. The juice or the water where pelmeni was boiled became the soup, however not many people like that. If you do not like the juice, you can eat just the pelmenis, by adding salt, black pepper and butter on them.
