There were some days that magazines and newspapers were the best ones for advertising a brand and a company. All you had to do is just place a short article about your company there, some pictures and it would be ready for advertising. No need for clicks or targeting audience or ROI counting and many other things we are hearing about every day. People would just go on with buying the newspaper and reading about you. Though, most of the times there could also be some magazine advertising tricks to engage more people, but not similar to ones that we have now.
Those may have been good days for many companies however with the digital world being developed so drastically, many advertisers and magazines would assume that it is the end of their epoch and they are already in past. With most of the cases that could be a reality there is still a question which is: now it can be even more difficult to give a certain answer to this, then we just imagine it to be.
Do people buy magazines?
In order to understand whether the magazine advertising still works all we have to do is to answer this simple question: do people still buy magazines? But wait, you can’t just answer to this question with yes or no. It has to have a research before the answer. You have to start the research in your area and see if people buy them in your country or not. And if they do buy, you are the one who has to make a research to see which newspapers they buy. See the names of those newspapers and make a statistics of the ones that are being mostly bought. It is only through the research that we can see whether magazines are being used nowadays or they are totally forgotten. Don’t forget about the age
Even if you are totally into thoughts that everyone is using notebooks, iPhones and other technologies for reading news, you are still being mistaken. In fact, one thing you are missing here is about the age of people. You still forget about those people who are from the older generation and are not using all of those IT technologies. In fact, those are the people that buy a lot of newspapers and spend so much time with them. Which means targeting can work here as well as it works for digital advertising. If you are selling something or offering services which can be better for the older generation that in reality those newspapers and magazines can be even a better option for you then the digital marketing. All you have to do is to make your target clearer and decide who you really want to apply to?
Do you think digital materials are stable?
With everything else, another thing that is important to be mentioned is the fact that digital materials and the digital world itself is being so changeable and not stable. You can never lay on anything here. The pages can be just deleted redirected, something can be changed and voila – your ad is not there or you just don’t see the results you were waiting for. However, with the printed ones you always know that hence it is already printed, it won’t see any other changes: it is just there to advertise you. With all of those things we don’t really mean that the magazines are the most stable ones, however always depending on your business and what you advertise it can also be of a great help.
Easy to be found by accident
Plus to everything else mentioned, another thing we shouldn’t forget about is that printed magazines and newspapers are so easy to be found by accident. If people just don’t have time to go from site to site for a digital advertising they can still be in some shops, where they can come across your ad in the newspaper. This means, you have still another chance of being noticed as well: the one that you can’t count on with the digital marketing.
