Origins: Australian

Difficulty: middle

Timing: 1 hour

Nutrition: medium

Actually the origin of the dish we will be making today is quite controversial. Some people say that it has British origins, while others say that the dish is of Irish origins. We have another version of its origin and that is the Australian one. Basically the origins of this dish are really not clear and many people debate over this issue. However, the fact is that nowadays it is the more popular in Australia than in any other country.  The dish is the Shepherd’s pie. It is light, simple, and delicate and at the same time it is a very tasty one. So one should not definitely miss the brilliant chance of making this beautiful dish.

Let’s start observing the ingredients as soon as possible.

The ingredients.

For the creamy mash:

800 grams of chopped potatoes

100 grams of softened butter

1 cup of heavy cream

For the meat sauce:

1 tablespoon of olive oil

1 carrot, which should be chopped

1 bay leaf

2 tablespoonof tomato paste

125 ml of red wine

1 cup of frozen peas

3 tablespoon of parsley

1 cup of beef stock

Minced lamb, 800 grams

2 garlic cloves

1 onion

Once you have already found all the necessary ingredients, let’s start the making.

The making.

Take a pan, add olive oil and onion, garlic, carrots, bay leaf and cook all these vegetables until they are soft enough. Then add the mince, make it brown and stir it well.  Then add the tomato paste and stir it well. Add the beef stock and red wine.  Then reduce the heat and bring it to boil. Add the cream and butter and stir well to combine. Then season to taste.

Then divide the mince into 2 cap- capacity dish parts. Then top with the creamy mashed potatoes.

After this just bake the Shepherd’s pies in pre-heated oven at 200 degrees for about 15-20 minutes until they get gold.

As you see, this dish is a very light, simple but yet a very beautiful one. It is a brilliant art of work I think. Actually it may sound easy to make but in reality it is not so easy. You have to be really careful in order to not burn them. They can be burnt really easy.

I think that it is a no wonder so many countries fight over the origin of this dish. Definitely it deserves attention. I you think that it is easy, we would say not at all. The difficulty is of medium level. When it comes to timing, then we have to say that it will not take too long. An hour is quite enough to make this stunning beauty dish.  The nutrition level is medium, as it does contain some healthy ingredients.

Overall the dish will suit you brilliantly, if you have some beautiful occasion and want to fill the table up with delicate and light dishes.

Try to make the Shepherd’s pie and you will never regret making it.
