What do we know about Israeli cuisine? Most of the Israeli dishes are quite tasty and healthy also. Probably the most often heard and the most popular Israeli dish is falafel. Falafel, unlike most of the Israeli dishes is fast food and can often be regarded as street food. However, Jewish are proud of their cuisine and particularly of falafel. The dish is a nice snack and can be a good breakfast, dinner, lunch or supper. So let’s see what ingredients we need for making falafel.
The ingredients.
1 cup of dried chickpeas
½ large onions, which must be perfectly chopped
2 tablespoon of chopped parsley
2 tablespoons of chopped cilantro
Salt
1 tablespoon of dried hot pepper
4 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon of cumin
1 teaspoon of baking powder
6 tablespoons of flour
Vegetable oil for frying
Chopped tomato for garnish
For garnish diced onion
For garnish diced green pepper
Pita bread
Tahini sauce
As you can see we need pretty many ingredients to make the Israeli kind of falafel. So after finding all of them it is the time for making.
The making
Take a large bowl, put the chickpeas there and add water. Leave it that way the night before making falafel. Then next day add the chopped parsley, cilantro, garlic, hot pepper and cumin.
Then you should sprinkle in the baking powder, add 4 tablespoon of flour and pulse. Then you can add more of flour or bulgur so as the dough will not be sticky. Make balls and then place them into refrigerator. Leave them in refrigerator for several hours.
Heat the oil to 370 degrees in a deep pot and then add one ball in order to test the texture. Of the ball does not fall apart then everything is fine. If it does fall apart then add more flour. Then add the balls into the pot, fry them so much until they get golden or red, and then take them out. Drain them on paper towels. Then take the pita bread, add the balls into there, then add the tomatoes, green pepper and onion. Add tahini.

Though being fast food, the nutrition is high. The making process is complicated and you need like 2 hours to make it. However, the result is worthy.
