Can women try menswear? This is a question which was always answered positively in our previous articles. However, today we are going to examine the issue of unisex clothes from its roots till now and discuss whether women really can try menswear. As we know the roots of unisex clothes go back to 20 century. Some sources assume that the idea of unsexes goes back to Victorian dress reform, that is to 19th century.
Actually what does it mean unisex? Unisex means something which is both for men and women. In this case of clothing, this means that the dress can be worn by both sexes, therefore, women can wear menswear. The revolution of dress habits comes from the feminist movement as well. Before the feministic movement women did not have the right to work. That is the reason why most of the comfortable clothes like jeans and shirts were worn by men. They had to work and they had to move, that is why jeans and trousers were designed only for men.
As a result of feminist movement women won the right to work as well. So once they started working, they also had to wear trousers and jeans, in order to be able to work and feel comfortable. This is how dresses were replaced by the trousers and jeans, and this is how women started to wear menswear.
Many men even nowadays still say that women should not wear jeans, trousers and should not wear menswear at all. Now the question is should women or eventually they should not?
I think that women should definitely try menswear because most of the women really like it. Menswear is much more comfortable and practical. Some women move a lot, so they cannot allow themselves to wear heels, and to wear dresses only. From this aspect, women even should and must wear menswear in order to feel comfortable.
Another reason why women can try menswear is that no matter how much men nod, menswear sometimes can look really sexy on men. Men very often say they do not like it, but in reality they like it so much. They see the soft creature in those clothes, which gives a women strength and power and at the same time she remains soft and delicate. No man can deny that in case of good matches the look will be very sexy and enchanting. Every man likes seeing his white shirt on his wife.
When it comes to shoes, we would again say that it is all about comfort. The unisex shoes or the shoes designed only for men can look very good on women. They will make the women look more interesting but on the other hand remain soft. Women can wear skirt and some blouse, and if they combine it with unisex or men’s shoes, they will really have a perfect balance in the look, and definitely they will look very stylish. Besides, wearing heels is not always comfortable.
Overall we think that men’s clothes are much more comfortable and practical than that of women’s. Women should not be deprived of feeling comfortable and goes as well. So if the woman finds herself very comfortable in menswear then why not, she obviously can wear menswear. Besides if we say that women cannot wear menswear, then we have to say the opposite side also. Men also should be deprived of wearing women’s cloth attributes or accessories as well. Otherwise it is a clear discrimination.
Just look how fashionable and trendy are some combinations of a woman who tries to match some accessories or clothes taken from men’s wardrobe with her own wardrobe. She is fearless, brave and she just wants to look different and unique. Being unique cannot be a guilt and sin.
In reality, 21st century made a model of sexy and fashionable woman who just cannot wear only women’s clothes. Nowadays the life is so unisex from every aspect you look at, that it is hard to imagine a woman who does not wear menswear. So let’s not judge the women who wear men’s clothes and let themselves be free with their choices. Anyway, some look really hot!
