In these stressful times and hectic schedules we hardly get time to groom ourselves on a daily basis, resulting in damaged hair and skin problems. Who doesn’t wish for those lustrous locks and glowing skin? Everybody does.Well, Fret not. We have some natural remedies and DIYs in the form of Castor Oil and Olive Oil. CASTOR OIL

Ricinus Communis is the biological/scientific name for Castor oil plant. Indigenous to Mediterranean basin, Africa and India. Also found in the Tropical forests. Castor seeds are pressed to extract the oil. High in Vitamin E, Proteins and has anti-Bacterial and anti-fungal properties.

For Hair: Castor oil consists of Vitamin E, which is good for hair and scalp. It prevents hair loss and repairs split-ends. It has thick and sticky consistency due to which many of us are skeptical about using it.

Treatment/Usage: Mix castor oil with coconut oil and store it in a bottle. Apply it by parting your hair, see to it that you apply it on your scalp as well. Then gently massage your hair. This increases circulation. Keep it for an hour or two then wash it off with a dry shampoo and good conditioner.

Or, apply the oil, massage and leave it overnight, and wash your hair the next day. Continue this treatment for a month or two; you are definitely going to have a healthier and shinier hair without any dryness and split-ends. These results couldn’t be seen overnight.It needs to be done religiously.

Also apply castor oil to your eyelashes and eyebrows before you go to sleep at night. Use a clean mascara brush or a Q tip to apply the oil, it results in thickening of eyebrows and longer growth of lashes.

For Skin: Castor oil is used to treat skin problems like sunburn, warts, boils, wrinkles fine lines and acne. It acts as a good moisturiser. When applied to the skin penetrates deep and stimulates the production of collagen and elsatin. It hydrates the skin making it smoother, softer and younger.

OLIVE OIL

Olive oil is extracted from the olive fruit. The Olive fruit has its base in the Mediterranean belts. Also rich in Vitamin E and A, minerals and fatty acids.

For Hair: Using olive oil makes hair fuller and lustrous.It provides deep conditioning, prevents damages done by hair care products and overuse of styling products. Always use virgin or extra virgin (processed without chemicals) olive oil.It has anti-ageing properties.

Treatment/Usage: Mix olive oil with coconut or any healthy oil, heat up a bit, and then apply it all over hair and scalp, gently massage for 5 Mins, wrap a hot towel as it locks the moisture in. Leave it for an hour or two then wash it off with a good shampoo and conditioner.

For Skin: Olive oil is good for skin too. It hydrates the skin, keeps it soft and plump. It has anti-ageing properties. Best thing is it could be used as a make-up remover too. Take few drops on cotton pad and remove all the makeup from your face, then rinse it off with warm water first and then with cold water as cold water stimulates blood circulation. Also using olive oil in salads will nourish your body from within.

So basically, these two oils are really beneficial for skin and hair, if used regularly. You can find these oils in your nearby drug store.
