The origin of chocolate truffles is actually unknown and not clear. Some people state that chocolate truffles’ origins go to France, however chocolate truffles are very popular in Sweden and in America as well, which puts the fact of its origin into doubt. Anyway, no matter what origins it has, the chocolate truffle is absolute everyone’s favorite. It is an amazing dessert to make or your friends, or just for breakfast to just enjoy with friends.  So let’s start making this fabulous dessert we all adore so much.

What ingredients do we need?

The ingredients 

Bittersweet or semisweet chocolate, need to weight 230 grams approximately

Unsalted butter, of about 2 tablespoon

Heavy whipping cream, approximately 120 ml

Alcohol of about 2 tablespoons. Actually does not matter what kind of alcohol. Can be brandy, cognac, rum or anything else. This is up to you. 

The options for coating

Toasted coconut

Confectioners’ sugar

Melted chocolate

Dutch cacao powder.

My favorite one is the Dutch cacao powder.

So now, when you have all the necessary ingredients, and when you know exactly your favorite coating, let’s start making.

The method of making the chocolate truffles. 

First of all you need to chop the chocolate and set it aside. Then you need to take a pan and add the cream and butter there under the medium heat and make it get boiled. Once it is boiled, add it to the chocolate and wait for about 2 minutes or so. The chocolate must be completely melted. If the chocolate did not melt, the place it into microwave and make it melt. Once the chocolate is kind of melted, stir the mass you have properly.  Then add rum or liqueur and place it in refrigerator, so as it will get firm. This process can take about several hours. While the truffles are getting firm, you make the covering you like. Let’s imagine that it is the cacao powder. You take the cacao powder, add on plate and once the truffles are firm, take them out of the refrigerator. By the help of spoon you make small truffles or round shape and then roll them into the coating. Once all the truffles are rolled you need to freeze them again for some hours.

If you want to add nuts to truffles you can briefly do that. You just have to take the nuts, bake them for about 10 minutes and then let them cool off. Once they are cooled off, you just chop them and roll the truffles into. The use of nuts is not a must. This is just something optional and is up to your personal likings.

Actually the making process of truffles is not really hard. It is really easy. When it comes to the timing, then we have to state that the timing is really huge. It may take a whole day to make the truffles because you need to freeze them for hours. The nutrition is not really high because this is just a dessert.
