New York is a dream city for more than thousand people around the world. One of these people is me, who dreams finding herself in New York and feeling the life there. I not only dream of seeing it but also living in New York. However, the life there is not what we imagine it to be. Still it remains an unrealized dream. So let’s take a sight at New York.
New York is one of the world’s great cities and biggest ones.it is the financial and economic center of US and has the largest population than any other city in US. New York is a mosaic of different people, different ethnicity, and it carries huge skyscrapers, hotels, restaurants and offices. It is also known as the city which never sleeps, which is always on track, and always moves.
The city is always full of people, everyone harries somewhere, and most often it is the workplace people harry to, so that is also the reason why New York is recognized to be depressive. There are too many people there, but the feeling of loneliness is too strong, you are too alone in that big city. Despite this fact, it is still favorite city for many.
For many of us New York associates with a life of a movie. We have seen New York in many movies, and for example, I started to love New York still in childhood, when I say the movie Home Alone. The whole atmosphere of the city there is so inviting, that makes me fall in love with it.
SO let’s really take a deep sight at New York and understand is it a good place or not really a good place to live in.
As mentioned already before New York is the largest populated city in US with the population of 8 million. New York is structured in a very interesting way, so that the city is divided into five parts or districts, which are Staten Island, Manhattan, Queens, The Bronx and Brooklyn. The Brooklyn bridge, the building of which was completed in 1883, connects the district of Manhattan with Brooklyn and is considered to be the oldest bridge of US.
Not many people know about this, but during 18 century, for a short period of time, New York was the capital city of US.
The world’s biggest stock exchange is in New York, The New York Stock Exchange and it is situated on Wall Street, which is the financial district of New York.
No Matter how strange it may sound, New York ranks the lowest in crime among the Northern cities of US.
One of the biggest art galleries in the world is also situated in New York, which make us think that there are many things we can see in New York, and that you can spend your time on museums also, while in New York. The museum is Metropolitan Art Museum. One thing we have to note about New York, is that you can visit most of the museums of the city for free.
New York is also famous for parks, especially New York Central Park, which is known to be the most visited park of US, as thirty five million people visit it every year.
I am sure you have heard about Broadway not once in your life. Broadway is the theatre district of New York. There are more than forty professional theatres located there, where many international starts perform. The theaters are open from Monday to Saturday usually, and the day-off for actors and the theatre staff is on Monday.
You have heard about the twin buildings right? The World Trade Center buildings were not just typical skyscrapers, they were so big in reality that each of them had its own postcode.
New York is famous for its diverse nicknames. The Big Apple, New Amsterdam, the Center of the Universe and many others are used in regard of New York.
The headquarters of United Nation’s Organization is situated here, which makes New York important center of diplomacy of world countries, and which actually makes New York as an important political city.
The style of New York buildings is also very diverse. They differ from district to district. For example Manhattan is known for its skyscrapers as many of world’s tallest buildings are here.
New York is quite hot in summer, and quite cold and snowy in winter. As you can remember in the movie Home Alone you can find lots of snow, which makes the feeling of Christmas and New Year complete and gives us a cheerful mood. You can freely go in for skating there, and actually you can spend a really good winter holidays there.
New York is also a fashion city, where many fashion shows are held and where many modeling agencies are.
This is not all about New York. There are many and many things you can read and study about New York but actually when we read and watch it is not the same feeling. We have to see and feel it ourselves. We have to see the Central Park and run there in the mornings, see the Time Square, watch performances in Broadway theatres and simply walk in the streets of New York around the night. I am sure it is one of the cities which do not have its duplicate, which is so much unique, that it seems to be completely another world and planet. There is a special mood, atmosphere and feeling there that I think you can find anywhere in the world, and that exactly is what makes New York be New York.
Though people who live there admit that it is a city of people and a city of loneliness at the same time, I am sure that life there is beautiful and you can be happy New York also.
