SALMAN KHAN-THE CURIOUS CASE OF BAJRANGI BHAIJAAN

This Eid, our bhaijaan is all set to reunite, a young mute girl from Pakistan lost in India, with her family back home on the silver screen, well ,he sure is going to get his Eidi like always. Last Eid (2014) too, he found a lot of KICK at the box office (one of the highest grossing movies of 2014). SALMAN KHAN, born as Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan, son of the legendary screenwriter Salim Khan (Salim , of the famous duo Salim-Javed). Extremely good looking(he was once voted as the 7^th most good looking man in the world by “People” magazine in 2004),the quintessential bhaijaan of hindi film industry,a commercially successful actor,film producer and a benevolent philanthropist, a man with a golden heart. Yes. The locals know him and believe that, this bandra boy has a heart of pure gold.

In 2007 ,he launched BEING HUMAN – Salman Khan foundation, a charitable organization that aids the underprivileged with education and health care. Since then he has been doing a lot of humanitarian work till date. He has had a best career except for a rough 3 years from 2000-2003.He has produced and starred in some record breaking movies. Talking about his image, he was once known as the ‘Bad Boy’ the ‘Trouble Child’ of bollywood, especially after his tumultuous relationship with actress Aishwarya Rai. The actor, is known to be in controversies regarding the women in his life, Killing of a black buck in Rajasthan ( for which he was put behind the bars for a week) and a 2002 Hit and Run case which is still pending !! Since then his case is under trial( for 13 years) till date.

On May 6 2015,Mumbai sessions court convicted him of all the charges and held him guilty for culpable homicide not amounting to murder which is punishable with imprisonment for upto 10 years, but his quantum of punishment was reduced to 5 years. Later ,by the end of the day ,the actor was granted an interim bail on the grounds that, he was not provided with the full copy of order of conviction. Law and all !! Ain’t it awesome? Convicted and bailed out on the same day, within few hours of the conviction. Incredible!! This is bhaijaan for you people. How swiftly and intellectually this drama unfolded ,no doubt he has got high profile lawyers at this end. Its very easy with the rich and affluent people and with the celebrities to fight against the lawsuit slapped on them, as they can afford to pay lawyer’s fat fees plus they are so well connected (politically ).What about the common man ? had a common man been involved in such a case, he would have been behind the bars, in no time.

As a citizen of this country, I feel ,nobody should be above the law. In his case its all a paradox. No man/woman be spared for the crime he/she commits. Just because he is a celebrity and has done a lot of humanitarian work for all these years does not make him any less guilty of the crime he committed. Many celebs have been very upfront in supporting him( for obvious reasons) and slaying the people sleeping on footpaths. Some even went on to tweet that ” Why the heck people sleep on footpaths., footpaths are for cars and dogs”. As if sleeping on the footpath is their choice! Dear( few mean )celebrities, why don’t you go and provide them with shelter, instead of tweeting such brainless tweets. Get a life pleaseee!! The victims of this incident don’t want Salman to be jailed, all they want is relief. As one of the victim said “Compensation matters more than Conviction”.

No doubt Salman revived himself and his career after that incident ,did a lot of charitable work, helped many ,but as per the conviction ,he is guilty of the crime he committed ,the court has evidences against him. Bhaijaan has got crores of money riding on him, and with the way this case has been taking shape, seems like bhaijaan will be given a clean chit. Now that the courts have enjoyed their summer holidays and has begun functioning, lets see how this case unfolds and what destiny has in store for sallu bhai. Let the justice prevail.
