What is the first thing that attracts you when you meet a person? The answer is probably his smile and denture. A beautiful smile is the key to a good personality. It can actually ease your life because people who smile often have better chance to succeed. But what about those who have yellowish or discolored teeth, with few important tips, one can easily take care of his oral hygiene and possess a smile that will please everyone around.

So, the question is how to take care of your teeth and gums? The query arises many a times in our minds and we are not able to find the reason that why our teeth are gums unhealthy even after we maintain proper oral hygiene. Here are few reasons why this happens:-

Brushing

It is important to brush your teeth twice a day. You should use a flexible and firm brush and don’t forget to change it after every 3 months. While brushing, you should brush your back and front teeth along with the tongue. Brushing on tongue is one thing that many people feel is unnecessary. Cleaning and brushing tongue makes your breath fresh and avoids the unpleasantness caused by a bad breath. With each brushing session of at least two minutes, you can also floss your teeth once in a day to maintain their cleanliness.

How to brush

Theirs a simple rule while brushing- move your toothbrush up and down rather than going left and right. This helps in removal of plaque which is a thin layer of bacteria covering your teeth enamel. For toothpastes, make a choice that contains fluoride in it.

Gum care

If you think that dental care is only brushing teeth, you might be wrong. Gum care is equally important to prevent your teeth from cavities which cause early decay. Certain gum diseases can lead to serious dental problems and should be given proper attention. One should get a regular dental check-up once in every 6 months. Germs and bacteria can be found at gums as well; hence you should brush in a circular motion to remove plaque. One can even apply certain home remedies like use of oil and salt for augmenting the health of gums and teeth. Use of an anti-septic mouthwash also helps in keeping your gums disease free. If you are unable to brush after meals, you may chew sugar-free gums, use a tooth pick or rinse mouth properly with warm salt water to avoid any action of bacteria on your gums.
