Some people would say you don’t become a leader, you are born as a leader, others would say the opposite: you become a leader, not born like that. And this question may be long discussed and everyone would stay firm in their ideas (or would change it – doesn’t matter). Doesn’t matter whether you have born as a leader or became it, you have still a lot to do. If you want to get something, you got to work for that – work HARD. Some people would argue again, which are the most important things in the life of the leader, or how does someone become a leader? Well, does the fact that you are good at your job makes you a leader?
Or –if you are a great housewife – does that make you leader?
The answer is both yes or no.
One thing we are somehow sure about is that being perfect in one field isn’t usually enough. Do you want to become a real leader – as people have different perspectives about leadership? Leader is the one that is not just controlling people in one field, because of this or that privilege that one has, it is more about being the leader of your own life. It is more about becoming someone useful to the world, not using the world for you.
Here we come to the definitions of the leader and leadership:
Leader is the one who inspires and creates
The difference between the boss and a leader sometimes seem to be unseen. However, what we come to suggest is that: boss is always controlling you, motivating you only with the salary and commends you what to do and what not to. Leader is the one who inspires you, gives you freedom of thought, of development, gives you motivation to create. Because every leader understands that commending is not the way of being a leader.
Leader becomes a mentor and helps the team
Do you want to know the secret of successful people? Read it – they could understand that knowledge is a power and sharing with others doesn’t make you less smart – it makes you smarter. It’s like 2+2. As easy as you couldn’t even imagine. We always learn something. We give a knowledge; we get it from somewhere else. This is a boomerang that will always come to you. Do you build a hatred? It will come to you sooner or later. Are you becoming a mentor for your team? Do you help them with anything they are having a difficulty with? Mutual understanding – this is what brings you to love and respect. This is what makes people trust you – knowing that you are always there for them is enough to know that you are a great person.
Leader gives you freedom to be involved in the job
By forcing and commending to do something as a boss you will only give a “to-do” list to your team. Even if they are doing the most interesting job and project in the world, that will become a hell when you are forcing it to be done.
The real leader finds the right way of not only creating a project, but also lets his team be involved in that project. The leader gives the opportunity to the team to feel the part of what THEY have created. To become the part of something – this is what everyone wants and expects when working. Give your team the opportunity to be engaged in something big.
We gave some general definitions to what we believe leaders are. However, there is so much more to read and learn. So much to listen and see – and you know what? This is what leaders are doing – educating themselves every minute of their lives. So, don’t waste your time on empty things, fill your life with knowledge, education, skills and become a leader.
